EARRINGS BY HELEN

Back again because they love what they do, Helen Goga (publisher of The Wire Artist Jeweller and Chains by Earrings by HelenBecky) and Alan Gooding (graphic artist and editor of both publications) have prepared a new book - Earrings by Helen.

Under the banner of WireJeweler, this is the first in a series of four that Helen plans to release over the next four years.

Once again, using tools, wire, stones, beads, gems and pearls, Helen demonstrates how to make beautiful (but inexpensive) wire jewelry through easy-to-follow how-to projects. Covering findings, components, ear cuffs and designs, Earrings by Helen features 22 projects plus five bonus patterns.

The projects range from novice to advanced (with more than half at the beginner-to-intermediate levels) and are an excellent resource for any jewelry artist.
Each project in Earrings by Helen is beautifully photographed, showing extremely close detail, and each step has carefully written instructions (complete with supply and tool lists) to help the artist successfully complete each project.

This full-colour, 80-page soft-cover book measures 8-1/2x11 inches, and is saddle stitched for easy use.

Originally published as a monthly (called Wired), the format was changed to 10 times a year in 2003 by combining the July and August issues, and the December and January issues (with twice as many projects in a single issue). Meeting the needs of both the beginner and the advanced wire artist, the projects are beautifully photographed and include highly detailed instructions. View a free sample earring project.

Along with the projects illustrated are informative and entertaining feature stories, valuable coaching and access to suppliers. Read a sample article.

Although this unique magazine is no longer published, the much-sought-after back issues are still available - and our order form includes project printouts from sold-out issues.

BOOKS

Chains by Becky

Becky Goga is well-known to the readers of The Wire Artist Jeweller magazine. An extraordinary jump-ring jeweller who creates exceptionally beautiful bracelets and chains, she looks for the easiest way to demonstrate - step by step - how to make each project. Often sharing her passion for chain maille, Becky not only taught but learned from her fellow artists.Chains By Becky Book

Chains by Becky features 20 projects along with five bonus patterns. These projects range from novice to advanced (about half at the intermediate level) and will be an excellent resource for any chain maker. Of the many challenges faced while compiling this book, none was more obvious than the realization that for any given chain there may be numerous other, well-known names. For instance, the Byzantine chain is also known as: King's Link, Idiot's Box, Etruscan, Idiot's Delight, Fool's Dilemma, Idiot's trap, Bird's Nest and Bird Cage (and there may be more). Nothing can be more confusing to a new chain artist than having different names assigned to the same pattern. Whenever possible, these names have been sought out and provided within the introduction to each project within this book.

Each project in Chains by Becky is beautifully photographed, showing extremely close detail, and each step has carefully presented instructions (complete with wire and mandrel sizes) to help the artist successfully complete each chain. With a laminated cover, the book is 8-1/2 x 11 inches and twin-looped (Wire-O) bound for easy use.
